Jerusalem, 22 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich and senior officials from The Ministry of Finance met with senior executives from high-tech companies amid the challenges facing the industry following the sharp strengthening of the Shekel and the artificial intelligence revolution.
At the meeting, Smotrich emphasized the state’s commitment to work to strengthen and preserve the strength of the local high-tech industry, which serves as the economic engine of the Israeli economy, and said: “The high-tech industry is a strategic pillar in Israel’s economy and national security. the Ministry of Finance is working to create the tools and business environment that will allow local companies to continue to lead in the global arena. We are attentive to the challenges you face, and together we are examining the right ways to support the stability of the industry. In the context of monetary policy and the exchange rate, the government will continue to closely monitor and act in coordination with all economic factors in the economy in order to provide the required government response.”
The representatives shared what was happening in the market, and described how the sharp strengthening of the shekel poses significant challenges regarding the viability of investing in the State of Israel, and the ability to continue to employ the best local minds here. They called for examining avenues of assistance and incentives to keep Israel a competitive place. They said that by working together with the government, it will be possible to overcome the challenges.
