Jerusalem, 18 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Water Authority said it is incorporating artificial intelligence to “improve service, shorten processes, and streamline the water sector.” This at a time when the world over people are voicing concerns that AI will cost many their jobs.
AI and machine learning systems help the Water Authority accelerate regulatory processes, detect anomalies in water use, improve water resource management, and free up professionals to focus on core tasks – for the benefit of more efficient and advanced service to the public.
The Authority will also soon begin using AI-based aerial photography analysis to quickly detect illegal drilling and unauthorized water pumping.
And, with the help of machine learning, it is already estimating more accurately and more intelligently the amounts of Water that penetrate our aquifers.
The Authority, however, pointed out that technology does not replace “our excellent engineers and professionals, but on the contrary – it frees them from technical work and allows them to concentrate solely on their expertise.”
