Jerusalem, 24 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics reported that In May 2026 there were 40 fatalities in traffic accidents in 34 different road accidents, while a total of 882 people were injured in 498 accidents.
The number of fatalities was 2 higher than May 2025 (38) and 3 higher than the monthly average for May 2022-2024 (37).
In the period of January-May 2026, 179 people were killed in road accidents. This number was 14 lower than the corresponding period in 2025. In May 2026, the number of road accidents and the number of casualties were lower than in May 2025 and compared to the monthly average for May in 2022-2024, but the number of fatalities was slightly higher.
